Easter Egg Making

Today consisted of chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate and it was nothing to do with a photo session. We took a family trip to make our very own Easter Eggs at Explore Chocolate in Burton Latimer and we had an amazing time. My big camera had a rest today so please excuse the phone images.

Now you can’t go wrong with chocolate and everyone knows that chocolate eggs taste better than any other chocolate for some reason but chocolate eggs that you have made yourself are just the best.

2018-03-24_0002Matt who runs Explore Chocolate was brilliant, he explained exactly what we needed to do during each step and was right there to help and support my two little boys if they needed him. He was great with the boys and made us all feel so welcome. Charlie (6yrs) and Ollie (4yrs) have not stopped talking about making their eggs all day and of course the eggs were unwrapped as soon as we got into the car and they were delicious.

2018-03-24_0005If you are looking for something to do that is a little bit different then I would highly recommend one of Explore Chocolate’s courses, I know that they also run birthday parties (how amazing would that be) and they sell some of their products in The Galleria in Burton Latimer too so please check them out.2018-03-24_0003Right I am off to eat just one more little teeny piece of chocolate 🙂

Waiting For Santa…Christmas Mini Session Experience.

My beautiful props have finally arrived and I have had fun testing them out in the studio today. I am so pleased with the handmade nature of these products, they really give a beautiful and natural finish and are just what I envisioned when I started planning these sessions. Now that the set up is ready it will soon be time to release the Christmas Mini Session slots.

christmas-mini-session-set-up

So now I get to share my excitement with you and tell you what this years sessions will be. This year I am not just doing mini sessions, nope I am going one better. This year I will be running Mini Experiences. How is that different? I hear you say, well let me explain and hopefully you will be as excited as I am 🙂

I wanted these sessions to be magical, capturing the real spirit of the festive season so these Mini Experiences will be filled with Christmas Music, festive treats and of course the perfect answer for ticking off those Christmas present lists. After all who doesn’t love a photo.

This years theme will be ‘Waiting For Santa’ with a dress code of Christmas jumpers/Christmas pyjamas.

Each Session will be 20 minutes full of fun and Christmas magic while I capture beautiful images of your children. After your session myself and my trusty Christmas elf will work on your images to make them just perfect and add them to an online gallery for you to view. You will receive 5 high quality digital images (via download from your onlne gallery) to print as many times as you like. I will provide a printing permission letter so you can print wherever you want. There will also be the option to purchase additional printed products through your gallery should you wish.

And that is not all as Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without gifts so I have been talking to Santa and he is kindly sending me a present to give to each child who attends a Christmas Mini Session. Eeeek. I get to be an elf 🙂

Oh and one more thing, as I have now been appointed one of Santa’s trusty messengers he has said that if your children bring along a Christmas letter written to him, I can send them on and he will make sure he sends your children a very special Christmas card. How amazing is that?

So how much will this cost? I hear you say. Your Christmas Mini Session Experience will be just £95 for upto 3 children from the same family. Little ones must be able to sit up unsupported so these sessions are not suitable for really little ones.

These sessions will run over two dates, Saturday 19th November and Sunday 27th November. Slots are limited to 10 per day so these will go fast.

Sessions will be released in three stages-

Saturday 8th October – 8pm – Slots will be released to past clients via email.

Monday 10th October – 8pm – Remaining slots will be released to waiting list clients, you can sign up to the waiting list here

Wednesday 12th October – 8pm – Remaining slots will be released onto my Facebook page.

I hope to welcome you into the studio very soon 🙂

If you have any questions about these Christmas sessions or my bespoke sessions then please feel free to contact me on kelly@kellyhermitagephotography.com or send me a message via my Facebook Page.

It’s almost time for school :-)

Only a few more weeks until the schools go back and we start the lunch making and school runs again. I have all the uniform ready, school shoes sourced and my munchkins have each chosen a new lunchbox.

It will soon be time for me to dress them in their school uniforms and take them into the studio to capture this years school photo, it amazes me how much they change in a year and my boys love to look at the differences too.

So this year I have decided to offer Back To School mini sessions so that you can also capture the anticipation of a new school year and the crisp new uniforms (before the knees get scuffed and the shirts get marked.

It’s Competition time :-)

Kelly Hermitage Photography is 3 years old today, wow that has gone by fast. Those three years have been amazing, I have gained so many skills and trained with one of the best newborn photographers in the country, taking my photography from strength to strength. I also achieved more than I ever dreamt possible by being awarded with a number of awards from The Guild of Photographers and also The National Photographic Society. But if it wasn’t for my wonderful clients then I wouldn’t be where I am today. So I would like to say thank you, thank you for choosing me to capture your memories, thank you for standing by me through the past three years and thank you for every like, comment and share that you have given on my Facebook posts. If it wasn’t for you then my business wouldn’t be where it is today.

Marvellous models

Wow what a busy few months it has been, I had hoped to write this little blog post ages ago but finding the time has been hard. Anyway I have stuck myself to the chair and planted the computer on my lap so here goes….

If you follow me on Facebook you may remember a lonnnnggg time ago I posted a model call. This model call was to enable me to build up a portfolio of images for older children as beforehand I had only offered sessions for children up to 5 years old. I was overwhelmed by the amount of applicants that I had and choosing my final models was a very difficult decision. (I will admit that I had help from my poor Mum as she got roped in to help me decide.)

So invitations sent out and sessions booked in, and into the studio came my four beautiful models. I absolutely loved these sessions, the girls were all brilliant and listened so well to my instructions. The images were exactly as I had envisioned and I gained more than enough images for my portfolio. So with that in mind I would like to share a few of my favourites with you now.

Finally I would like to thank these four beautiful young ladies for helping me achieve these images and for being truly fantastic models, it was lovely to meet you all. I would also like to thank the Mums and dads for allowing me to photograph their Daughters. I hope you are all as pleased with your images as I am. 🙂

Preparation is the key to success.

Did you know that before we even meet for your session my work has begun? I plan and prepare for your session as soon as you have confirmed your booking. So what do you do then, it can’t be that hard surely? I hear you say.

Well I won’t bore you with the paperwork side otherwise you will be zzzzzzzzz, who likes paperwork anyway.

But the fun starts when I do your session plan, I use all the information that you provide on your booking form to plan the perfect session for you and your family. For those who haven’t had a session with me I will give you a little insight into what a booking form asks. I will ask you to think about colours that you would like included in your session (look at the colours in your home, what will work well and look good on your walls). There is no point in me planning a purple session theme if your home is decorated in orange (unless that is the look you are going for of course). I will also ask you to tell me about your children, what are their names? What are their likes and dislikes? Are they shy? Are there any poses that they will be unable to do (medical reason or just won’t be happy)? Anything you tell me about your children will help me make the session as fun and relaxed for them as possible. By knowing all this information before they arrive means that I can talk to them and relate to them in a way that will help them relax while they are here. I can talk to them about their favourite tv show or plan poses that I know they will be happy doing. The booking form is also your way to let me know what you want from your session and which photos are important to you, do you just want photos of your little one or do you want family photos as well?

So I have your booking form and have read through all the information and I am ready to plan 🙂 I write a list of the poses and set ups that I will be doing and pick out the props and outfits that I will be using (maybe buy a few more to add to my collection just because it would work so well with your chosen colour theme, sssssh).

I have all this set up before you arrive so that your session runs as smoothly as possible. Of course where little ones are involved there may be a need to rethink or change set ups. This is especially true when newborns are around as they have a tendency to poop on things. Therefore I always have a back up plan with a few extra outfits/blankets and a lot of wipes and muzzys just incase.

Hmmm that would lead perfectly to a what happens after your session but that’s another post 🙂

This photo shows perfectly how planning can work, these images were all based on a yellow and brown colour theme for a little boy who can now sit up. Because the colours were used throughout the session the images will work together perfectly as a wall collection as well as individually.
